CENTERING
AND OPENING THE GATEWAY: Remove any distraction from your space.
You may want to play some very soft spiritual music in the background.
You may also want to light a candle or incense to symbolize your
coming into this sacred place. Take a few deep breaths before
beginning this service and center yourself. Close your eyes for
a minute and move into that quiet place deep within your heart
center where you hear and feel the presence of the Divine. Use
whatever method you desire to put yourself into the gateway to
the Divine. Continue to breathe purposefully, directing your Basic
Self to hold the energy. When you are ready to begin say the Opening
Prayer out loud.
OPENING
PRAYER: Through my Basic Self to our Higher Self we pray. Beloved
Aumakua, Divine Father-Mother, we come again to this sacred place
to affirm your presence in our lives. We give thanks that you
are the living presence that surrounds and uplifts our lives.
We give thanks for all the blessings you have bestowed upon us
and that you continue to give us. Be with us now as we open our
hearts, minds, bodies and spirits to your life-giving love. Ama
a. (Release the energy and the prayer.)
THOUGHTS
FOR MEDITATION: Meditation is a time to consciously allow the
Divine to come into your life. You can either rest in the silence
and listen or focus on a word or phrase from our meditation for
this week. Spend as much time as you like in meditating. During
the week remember this meditation theme and open your mind and
heart to a fuller experience of this aspect of the Divine Force.
Slowly read the following three times.
Meditation
I,
the blazing life of divine wisdom,
I
set alight the beauty of the plains,
I
radiate the waters,
I glow
in the Sun, and the Moon and the stars.
With
wisdom I order all things right.
I beautify
the Earth.
I am
the breeze that nurtures all things green.
I am
the rain coming from the dew
that
makes the fields laugh with the pleasure of life.
I call
up tears, the perfume of holy work.
I am
the yearning for good.

SPIRITUAL
MESSAGE:
HUNA:
Spirituality or Religion?
By Rev. Frances Sisco
Do you consider spirituality
and religion as one and the same? I have given this a great
deal of thought in my lifetime. As
an older adult I have shied away from being labeled as belonging
to a church or being religious. I didn’t mind being called
a Christian because in my mind that meant I was striving to be
Christ-like and I felt he was a pretty good fellow to be compared
to. To label a person is sometimes a difficult thing to do. We
have a tendency to lump people together instead of judging each
on their own merit. We refer to them as being a part of a church
or religious, belong to such and such organization, new age,
spiritual, Methodist, Baptist or any number of labels.
What we are (I believe)
are children of the universe, all one and the same, just as
Jesus, Mother Teresa, the Dali Lama and
others. Each of us is seeking wisdom in our own way and in our
own time. My time is now and practicing HUNA is my way of choice.
Today is all I have and I want to make it count as much as possible.
Webster defines religion as “a tenet, belief, dogma, faith,
creed, and persuasion.” At long last I am secure enough
in my beliefs to say I am a member of the HUNA religion. I am
practicing what works for me. If you are not satisfied with where
you are in your life, then I would urge you to take a closer
look at HUNA and its teachings. Read John Bainbridge’s
book on HUNA Magic or Rev. Arlyn Macdonald’s many books
on HUNA. Of course, any and all of Max Freedom Longs writings.
Max is the one who uncovered and brought to the world the teachings
of HUNA. Keep turned onto this web page and study here. Ask about
work shops and attend the HLI seminar in June. Study and practice
and in twenty one days you will see a new outlook and will have
created new daily habits that will enhance your life. (I have
been told it takes 21 days to make or break a habit.)
As long as I can remember I have been aware of my spirit. I
did not always connect it to me the way I do today. I knew without
a doubt there was a creator of everything. I thought my spirit
was something outside of my body sent from God to protect me.
I believe today that I am one with my spirit and it with me.
It is all around me, in everything I see, breathe, touch and
feel. I am one with my universe completely. Spirit is me and
I am spirit.
My grandfather professed
to be an atheist, and I was not allowed to go to church as
a child. I felt deprived of some great mystical
knowledge. As an adult I consider it a blessing. I was not exposed
to the hell fire and brimstone thought of punishment for my transgressions.
I grew up believing “my heavenly father” allowed
me to make my mistakes and to suffer the consequences for them.
Somewhere I had the thought form of God being Love and how could
someone who loved me make me suffer forever and ever in hell?
As an adult I explored going to church and never felt satisfied
with the teachings. I felt there was more to life than Jesus
dying for my sins and all I had to do was profess that and all
would be forgiven. I find no fault with anyone who chooses to
believe that way, in fact quite a few members of my family do.
I honor them and the way they choose to believe. I believe they
are where they need to be at this time and in this lifetime.
I believe we are all one and the same. We are brothers and sisters
of the same family. We are all drops from the same ocean. In
fact I believe we are the ocean.
At a very low point in my life I was faced with needing to know
why I was here and what the purpose of this life was. I was wallowing
in self pity and blaming everyone and everything for my pitiful
situation. I was no longer a productive person in any form. I
blamed my parents for abandoning me as a child, I blamed my ex-husband
for being abusive, I blamed God for taking my child and I blamed
my family and friends for not being supportive enough. During
this time I heard someone speak about HUNA, a teaching based
on old Hawaiian beliefs. That miracles can and do happen while
practicing the HUNA belief system. That we are responsible for
all that life gives: good, bad and indifferent. That was a changing
point in my life. I reached out to this method of teaching and
I came to realize that I was the only one to blame. Not that
blame is even necessary. It was just the way things were and
would stay unless I changed it. I and I alone am responsible
for me. All I can control in my life is me and my reaction to
actions around me.
HUNA works on the belief that we are composed of a conscious
mind (middle self), an unconscious mind (basic self) and a spirit
mind (high self). When we work in harmony with these three we
can manifest our desires. HUNA teaches you how to generate mana
using our life force of breath. HUNA will teach you how to clear
blockages from your path and allow mana to flow quickly and smoothly
to our high self, so we can manifest that which is for our highest
good. With Vector we teach you how to get rid of thought forms
that you have created negative patterns with. However, HUNA is
not something someone else can do for you. It is an individual
effort. You and you alone must do the work it takes to get to
a point that positive thought flows. HUNA LIFE International
is here to offer you a support group and to teach you the way
to attain these things for yourself. HUNA teaches you how to
honor yourself and others.
We are evolving in one way or another, for the highest good
of all including ourselves, or not in the highest good of anyone.
I always knew we had to take care of ourselves or we would be
in no condition to take care of others. HUNA will teach you to
care for your fellow man and all that is in the universe around
us. We are no more or no less than the other. We stand before
the universe and all fellow humans in a conscious spiritual relationship.
I really like the salutation, namaste. It means the spirit with
in me acknowledges the spirit in you.
What our actions say about us on an individual basis is what
our legacy will be. It also is how content we will be on this
earth and in this life. George Burtt, who created the Vector
method, wrote a book titled “Stop Crying at Your Own
Movie.” He taught that we are the writer, producer and
director of our own life. If we do not like the way it is written
then by all means re-write it. I would say that we are also
the casting director. We choose who we will share the stage
with. Most people who enter our lives are there to teach us
something. If they are no longer welcome, we need to learn
the lesson and thank them for teaching it to us. Bid them goodbye
and let them go. To hang on to someone or something that is
not working in our life is not going to help anyone.
I sometimes borrow the AA motto when referring to
HUNA. HUNA
works if you work it.
Acknowledge your divinity; take the steps needed to get your
life in order. Lead a helpful and hurtless life. Do your ho’oponopono
and forgive your self and others. Live your life in the best
possible way for you and I guarantee it will be what is best
for others.
Max wrote a wonderful prayer. It is thought provoking and I
would like for you to really read it. Not just skim over the
words. It is as follows;
If I have hurt someone today, with thought or word or deed,
or failed another in his need, I now repent.
If I can take these steps again, tomorrow I will make amends
and heal with love those hurts, I do this pledge.
And if a hurt has struck me deep and no amends are made,
I ask the light to balance all. I count that debt as paid.
Parental spirits whom I love and who I know love me;
reach through this door I open wide, make clear my path to thee.
Aloha to all,
Rev. Frances Sisco
CLOSING
PRAYER: When you are ready to return to the world, take a few
more deep breaths, hold the energy, and end this service by saying
this prayer out loud, releasing the energy and your prayer.
Beloved
Aumakua, we pray for your help in cleansing away all the past
hurts
we have done to others. We ask your help in cleansing away
the feelings of hurt for those offenses done to us. Help us
to remove the blocks from our pathway, that we may experience
your Light in our lives. Help us to become aware of hurtful
thoughts and actions before they can hurt someone else. Help
us to let our Light shine and join with the Light of the World
to bring about a New Life for ourselves, our families, and
our world. Show us the way to peace. Amama ua noa. Lele wale
akua la. Our prayer has taken flight, let the rain of blessings
fall. Amen.
(Release
the energy and the prayer.)
BLESSING:
(Take a few more deep breaths and place your hand on your heart
and say this blessing as your Higher Self)
Weave
for us a garment of brightness;
May the warp be the white light of morning,
May the weft be the red light of evening,
May the fringes be the falling rain,
May the border be the standing rainbow.
Thus weave for us a garment of brightness,
That we may walk fittingly where birds sing,
That we may walk fittingly where grass is green,
O our Mother the Earth, O our Father the Sky.
